The short answer
Most consumer graphene coatings are silica-based coatings with a graphene oxide additive. The additive is real, but the base chemistry is largely the same, which is why real-world performance between a good ceramic and a good graphene product is closer than the marketing suggests.
The two claims worth taking seriously in Texas are reduced water spotting and a slightly slicker, more sheeting surface. The claim to treat with skepticism is dramatically lower surface temperature.

What actually decides the outcome
Prep and installer skill, by a wide margin. A mid-tier product installed on properly corrected, decontaminated, and wiped paint outperforms a premium product rushed onto a car that was not prepared.
After that, maintenance. Both types die the same way here: automatic washes, harsh chemicals, and hard water left to dry on the surface.

Ask what the prep includes, how many hours it takes, and what the correction step is. That answer tells you more about the result than the product name on the bottle.
Then ask what the maintenance requirement is, and whether the warranty depends on it. A coating with a strict maintenance schedule you will not follow is a worse purchase than a simpler product you actually maintain.

Most of the numbers on a coating bottle are marketing, and a few are useful. Knowing which is which makes comparing products far quicker.
