Older homes, older water lines, same hard water
Water hardness in this part of North Texas does not change much between a 1920s bungalow and a 2020s build. What changes is what people do about it: an older home is more likely to have a sprinkler system spraying the driveway and a car parked in range of it.
If your car wears a permanent constellation of spots, look at where the sprinkler heads point before you blame the wash.
Fall in an older McKinney neighborhood

- Clear the cowl at the base of the windshield, where leaf litter blocks the drains and sends water into the footwell.
- Check the sunroof drain channels if the car has one, for the same reason.
